Welcome to third grade!  I am excited to be starting my forth year of teaching and my third year here at Pottsville Elementary.  I have been married to my husband, Terence, for four years and live here in Pottsville.  We have a daughter, Emma, who just turned 1 in August.  We are also expecting a boy in December, so I will have to miss a few weeks of school after Christmas break.  I have really enjoyed working at Pottsville the past few years and can’t wait for another great year!  Please call, email, or send a note if you ever need anything.

 Announcements

First Day of school August 19th!  First bell will ring at 7:55.

Be sure that if your child is eating in the cafeteria that they have lunch money.  Please send back all papers filled out for the office as soon as possible.  If you have not paid your $30 activity fee, please do so. 

Car riders, please place car rider tags on the rearview mirror in plain site when picking up your child.

Homework

Spelling –

Each night students will be required to write their spelling words twice in print and one time in cursive.  We have spelling books, and your child should be bringing this home each night to study.  The books show how to write the word in cursive, so your child will have something to follow.  We will have a pre-test each Wednesday, and if your child makes a 100%, they will not have homework for the rest of the week or a test on Friday.  You can find the spelling words on the 3rd grade web page.

Reading –

Your child should be reading aloud to you every night.  I will send home
their "reader" on Tuesday and Thursday nights.  They will need to read the
story with you on these two nights.  Monday and Wednesday nights should be
spent reading AR books, and on occasion I will send home reading group books or fluency passages for your child to be reading. 

Math –

Your child will on occasion bring home a math worksheet to complete.  Multiplication will start during the third or forth week of school.  Please be sure that your child is practicing their multiplication flash cards nightly.  Once multiplication starts, your child will have homework Monday-Thursday.
